I will dominate 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Anthony Joshua
The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round fight which will be broadcast in real-time on the streaming platform.
Briton Anthony Joshua declared he will "dominate completely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants confronted each other to promote next month's bout.
Former two-time world boxing king Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a huge mismatch - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I'm going to injure his face and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, stated.
"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.
"I will genuinely try to injure him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Exchange
In spite of those words, a calm Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically famous for his dramatics - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.
Paul instead attacked former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian turned down a fight offer.
Taking Aim at Fury
Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized UK rival Fury - and rejected a large bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.
"I acknowledge that."
Legitimate Fighter
In spite of saying he intends to hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.
"Jake is a credible opponent," he remarked.
Jake Paul's History
Paul - who originally gained popularity on the Disney Channel - has mostly boxed mixed martial artists or faded names since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by Briton Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
Still, the inexperienced fighter continues to be one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving substantial financial rewards.
Forecast and Confidence
The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.
"It will be my match with Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul declared.
Physical Difference
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it emphasized just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is really proceeding.
